As we continue to grow, we are looking for a Lending Support Assistant to join our team and help deliver excellent service to our members.

The Role:

As a Lending Support Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the lending team by processing loan applications, assisting members, and ensuring smooth administration of lending activities.

You will be working closely with colleagues and members to ensure lending services are efficient, compliant, and member focused.

What You’ll Do:
  • Process loan applications and supporting documentation
  • Carry out initial checks on applications (affordability, documentation, data accuracy)
  • Communicate with members regarding loan applications and requirements
  • Maintain accurate records on the credit union’s systems
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements
  • Assist with general member enquiries regarding loans and services
  • Support the lending team with reporting and file management
  • Provide administrative support to the lending team
What You’ll Learn:
  • Understanding how ethical lenders support members responsibly
  • Reviewing loan applications and supporting documentation
  • Learning about responsible lending rules and data protection requirements
  • Helping members access affordable credit and manage repayments
  • Using financial databases and lending systems
  • Maintaining accurate member and loan records
About You:

Essential:
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage confidential financial information
  • Competent IT skills (Microsoft Office and database systems)
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills
Nice To Have:
  • Exposure to credit/lending environments
  • Experience of looking at Credit Reference Agency or Open Banking data
  • Knowledge of UK regulatory landscape (eg FCA guidelines on responsible lending)
  • Confident with Excel
